All Lined Up by Cora Carmack (Rusk University #1)

    Rating: 5/5 Stars
    Recommend: yes!

SynopsisDallas Cole loathes football. That's what happens when you spend your whole childhood coming in second to a sport. College is her time to step out of the bleachers, and put the playing field (and the players) in her past.
But life doesn't always go as planned. As if going to the same college as her football star ex wasn’t bad enough, her father, a Texas high school coaching phenom, has decided to make the jump to college ball… as the new head coach at Rusk University. Dallas finds herself in the shadows of her father and football all over again.
Carson McClain is determined to go from second-string quarterback to the starting line-up. He needs the scholarship and the future that football provides. But when a beautiful redhead literally falls into his life, his focus is more than tested. It's obliterated.
Dallas doesn't know Carson is on the team. Carson doesn't know that Dallas is his new coach's daughter.
And neither of them know how to walk away from the attraction they feel.

Review: When I first heard that this book was coming about and was going to be the start of another Cora Carmack series I was actually pretty indifferent towards it. I liked Losing It, LOVED Faking It and dispised Finding It. So to be honest I wasn't sure how I'd feel about this story, especially since i have zero interest in football. All I can say is boy am I glad I picked this up, this has to be Cora's best book to date and I adored it, almost everything about it was perfect. All Lined Up follows Dallas, who was hoping that going to college would finally be her chance to escape the shadow of her football coach father, which turns out to be a bust since her father is offered a coaching job at the very university she attends. Dallas is terrified to have fun because it's very likely anything she does will get back to her father and he'll be pretty pissed about it, but Dallas's Best friend Stella won't take no for an answer and drags her to a frat party. In order to escape from a football player that intends to sleep with her, she escapes into an open bedroom, it's here she meets the gorgeous Carson. Things heat up that night after flirty banter but Dallas is dragged away. It's later, after days of flirting that Dallas finds out that Carson is one of her fathers football players. The novel proceeds to be Dallas and Carson trying to be just friends while denying the obvious chemistry and connection they have that's unlike anything either of them have ever felt. Overall, i adored this book and if you were a fan of Cora's other novels then you will no doubt fall in love with the story of Carson and Dallas.

What I Liked: The sexual tension between Carson and Dallas was so well written, i found myself wanting to climb into the book and kiss Carson myself. I liked the dynamic between Dallas and her father, i thought it was a nice addition to the love story and it made some of Dallas's actions make more sense. Carson and his indifference to the team and being a bench warmer to becoming the star of the team after the "incident" was a nice thing, i know I've seen some people who didn't like that particular aspect of the book but i thought it was a nice addition, it also showed Coach Cole's further acceptance of Carson as his daughters boyfriend. My favorite part though was the moment when Silas tells Carson has his back, it made me adore Silas and it made me all the more excited for All Broke Down, which follows Silas and his love story.

What I Didn't Like: i found Dallas and Carson's attempt at being just friends pretty laughable when it was clear from the readers point of view that it just was not going to happen considering the sexual tension and their inability to keep their eyes off each other. The issue with Dallas's ex was absolutely pointless and the "incident" was also, except for the fact that it made Carson have to take over the QB position. Dallas's father was overbearing and that annoyed me. Stella really got on my nerves most of the time, i'm hoping that if All Played Out is about her that i like her better after she gets a love interest and her emotional problems are revealed. Dallas's breakdown after she hears the rumor about Carson was something that really threw me off and it really was not needed. I didn't have nearly as many issues with this book as i did with Losing It and Finding It, this one it was more like small things and pointless passages, all in all it was a great book.
